1. My Pain and Symptoms
Hi, I started this website in the hope that I can help (Dr. Yonit Arthur) raise awareness of how understanding the way our brain, body and nervous system function may help one recover from chronic pain and dizziness. Here goes my story:
Oct - Nov 2022: Experienced neck pain and slight dizziness which I attributed it to long hours on my laptop and incorrect posture.
Dec 2022: Had a vertigo attack which lasted for about a minute, and saw a GP who did some simple ear and movement tests.
Dec - Feb 2023: Continued to experience neck pain and dizziness. Dizziness usually happened when I sat down, and I was fine when walking / in moving vehicle. I also experienced symptoms like eye pain / ear pain / heaviness in my head / tingling sensations down my legs.
Feb 2023: Did brain and neck MRI scans, and results turned out fine.
Mar 2023: Consulted a physiotherapist and got a diagnosis of cervicogenic dizziness. (He pressed on a particular point on my neck during a session and triggered a really bad episode of dizziness, hence the diagnosis) I saw him for about 5 sessions, and also saw an acupuncturist in between sessions. I thought I was recovering but noticed that symptoms were relieved only during the sessions.
Apr 2023: Symptoms started changing. The neck pain seemed to have subsided but I started to feel neck tightness, then the dizziness became swaying / bobbing / floating / walking on marshmallow. I felt these sensations whether I was walking, lying down, sitting, brushing my teeth, washing my hair, etc.
